Taunton nursery ‘extremely proud’ as Ofsted rating improves

Spring The Hollies, located at the Hollies Children Centre, was rated as “good” in all categories, including the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management. This is a significant increase from the previous inspection, carried out in April 2024, when it was rated as “requires improvement” in all the same categories.

A statement from Louise Redwood, the nursery manager, said: “All those involved with The Hollies are extremely proud of our recent ‘Good’ grading.

“This achievement reflects the dedication, care and passion of our amazing team in creating a nurturing and inspiring environment for the little ones in our care.”

The report said the nursery has taken steps to improve since the last inspection, noting the teamwork and communication between staff.

“The provider has worked well with staff and other agencies to improve practice since the last inspection,” it said.

“The provider encourages staff to develop their skills and promotes their well-being.”

“This approach has helped staff to establish more effective communication and teamwork and provide a more consistent approach to support children’s needs.”

The inspectors praised Spring The Hollies approach to safeguarding, saying the arrangements for safeguarding are effective and that there is an “open and positive culture” around safeguarding that “puts children’s interests first”.

The report said the nursery is a place that helps children develop and does this through working closely with parents.

“Staff focus well on supporting children’s personal, social and emotional skills within the curriculum,” it said.

“They work closely with parents to help children settle in gradually so they feel comfortable in the setting.”
